Matt was born in southern Iowa, where after the first 7 years of his life his dad's job moved him to central Iowa (whew, I bet he's thankful to his dad)!
    Matt's musical career started as early as 4th grade where his brother taught him to play the trombone. He played trombone, tuba, baritone and even a little drums through his high school career. He then went on to college to play in the jazz band where he also sidelined in "The Dick Baughman Orchestra" (may Dick rest in peace). Rewind; the summer between his junior and senior year in high school, Matt "inherited" a 6 string acoustic where he somehow managed to learn the bass lines to all the songs on the cassette tape found in his player. Yea it was a cassette not a CD. HEY at least he had upgraded to cassette and put his 8 tracks and vinyl's on the closet shelf.
    As they say, the rest is history. After playing in jazz, blues, rock, variety and country bands over the next umpteen years Matt has been blessed to hookup with this group of guys!
    In 2001 Matt met his lovely bride and together they now have 6 children; soon to be 17 yr old girl, 15 yr old girl, 9 yr old twin girls and soon to be 3 year old twin boys. Nope, he doesn't have gray hair............because he doesn't have hair.
    Matt has been employed at his current place of employment for almost 20 years.........yep, he's been workin' longer than most of the bloggers on this site have been alive. He also has a small lawn care business that keeps him busy in his spare time.
    A bit about Matt's gear; A bass with 5 strings and an amp w/ two cabinets and a total of 5 speakers.
